EDUCATION: The movement to amplify the voices of Virginia voters continues to thrive due to those who have stood up and taken ownership of their democracy. Thousands of grassroots advocates have invested in our efforts, and it’s their investment that makes this all possible.
Most of our work is done through our Foundation (501c3). These donations fund our statewide education efforts and general operations - they are the backbone of what we do and are tax-deductible.

ADVOCACY: Our direct lobbying and advocacy work is done through our 501c4. This allows us to work on passing specific legislation at the state and local level. These donations are not tax-deductible but are still vital to our success.

You can mail a check made out to UpVote Virginia Foundation to PO Box 1054, Richmond, VA 23218.
Or you can donate through an Individual Retirement Account (IRA):
You can make a tax-free gift to the UpVote Virginia Foundation from your IRA. Anyone over age 70½ can avoid taxes by making a gift directly from an individual retirement account.
As you may know, the IRA Charitable Rollover has been signed into permanent law. This means that you can make a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA without paying income taxes on the contribution; however, the contribution does not qualify as a charitable gift for tax purposes.
Specific requirements include:
You must be at least 70½ years old.
You must decline goods or services.
Your rollover may not exceed $105,000.
To make a gift, please send a letter to your IRA administrator requesting a direct charitable distribution to UpVote Virginia Foundation in the amount you wish to donate. The letter should include our tax ID #88-1426176.
